WestJet will fly from Edmonton to Prince George twice a week during the peak summer season effective July 5, 2025.

Prince George air travellers will soon be able to fly directly to and from Alberta’s capital city this summer starting in early July.

WestJet announced on Monday, May 19 that it would start twice-weekly flights to and from Edmonton effective July 5.

A media release issued by the company said that the route would be operated “throughout the peak summer travel season onboard the De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft.”

The company is also adding summer seasonal flights from Edmonton to Kamloops and increasing flight capacity from Edmonton to Yellowknife and Edmonton to Nanaimo.

In the release, Prince George Airport Authority interim president and CEO Sabrina Angus welcomed the announcement.

"We're thrilled to welcome this new route connecting Prince George to Edmonton, expanding travel options for our community and strengthening our region's accessibility," Angus said. "This service not only opens the door for more business and leisure travel but also reinforces our commitment to connecting Northern BC to key hubs across Canada."

WestJet executive vice-president and chief commercial officer John Weatherill said the routes come from a greater desire for domestic travel.

"Restoring service to Kamloops and introducing service to Prince George is a direct reflection of Canadians' interest in exploring their own backyard this summer," Weatherill said. "With more flights and more seats in key Western Canadian markets, we're giving Canadians better access to the destinations they rely on for business, leisure and visiting loved ones."
