West Fraser declares dividend

West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. declared a quarterly dividend of 14 cents per share Friday. The dividend applies to common and class B common shares and is payable on Jan. 9 to shareholders of record on Dec. 19.

The dividend applies to common and class B common shares and is payable on Jan. 9 to shareholders of record on Dec. 19.

The news comes after West Fraser earned $6 milllion from continuing operations during the third quarter on sales of $705 million. For the first nine months of 2011, earnings from continuing operations were $37 million or $0.87 per share on sales of $2.1 billion.

The integrated wood products company has extensive operations in north and central B.C., including in Smithers, Houston, Fraser Lake, Chetwynd, Quesnel and Williams Lake as well as in Alberta and the southern United States.

West Fraser shares were trading at $39.98 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Friday.
