The popular February Pineview Snow Frolics are back with unique and fun events following a one-year break.
The event, by the Pineview Recreation Commission, attracts about 500 participants in events like snowshoe volleyball, snopitch ball, an outhouse race and logger sports.
"They have been cheered on by several thousand who come out to enjoy the festivities," said co-ordinator, Karen Vohar.
"It's a real family event with plenty of activities, ridiculously funny happenings, food, and lots of laughs during events for all ages." For more information call the hall at 250-963-8214.
The week-long event Feb. 11 to 20 kicks off Friday night with a family dance at the Pineview Hall. Music is by Rhythm and Sound. Tickets are $5.
Here is a schedule of Snow Frolics events:
***Saturday Feb. 12: Snopitch Tournament at Malcolm McLeod Park begins at 10 a.m. Arm wrestling registration is at 3 p.m. The adult dance is at 8 p.m.
***Wednesday Feb. 16: Cribbage night begins at 6 p.m. (register from 5 to 6 p.m.) The Rock Band competition is at 9 p.m.
**Thursday Feb. 17: Merchandise family bingo begins at 6:30 p.m.
**Saturday Feb. 19: Pancake breakfast 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Kids games from noon to 4 p.m. Snowshoe volley ball all day.
**Sunday Feb. 20: Pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Kids Games from noon to 4 p.m. Snowshoe volley ball. Logger sports at 3 p.m. Outhouse races at 4 p.m. Concession booth and beer garden available during Snow Frolics events.
To get to Pineview, travel south on Highway 97 and turn left on Holmes Road. Cross the old Cariboo Highway and continue east on Bendixon Road.
