Three straight wins for Grays, three straight setbacks for Falcon Camp Services

Highlights from the Spruce City Men’s Fastball League (SCMFL) from the week ending on Friday (Aug. 14).

Tuesday, Aug. 11

  • 2 - Sibola Electric Royals
  • 1 - FFR Glass Grays

Norm Linton’s fifth win on the mound this year was the result of another close contest between the Royals and the Grays.

Brennan Hammell put the only ball of the night over the fence to propel his team to victory.

  • 9 - Falcon Contracting
  • 3 - Freshii Hitmen

Robbie Antoine picked up his third straight win on the mound for league-best Falcon Contracting, while his team tripled the Hitmen on the scoresheet.

Wednesday, Aug. 12

  • 2 - FFR Glass Grays
  • 1 - Falcon Camp Services

Jeff Hill got the Grays back in the win column with his first from the bump, albeit by a closer victory than expected.

  • 13 - Sibola Electric Royals
  • 12 - Falcon Camp Services

FCS couldn’t conjure up a win in its double-header as Pitcher David Cake won it all for the Royals.

Brennan Hammell clobbered two home runs in the night-cap with teammates Brady Antoine and Darcy Michell following suit.

Thursday, Aug. 13

  • 9 - FFR Glass Grays
  • 8 - Falcon Camp Services

This was the Grays’ second one-run win of the week, adding another two points to the SCMFL standings.

  • 7 - FFR Glass Grays
  • 6 - Sibola Electric Royals

The Grays rolled ahead early on, but with based loaded, Linton was able to cut the lead to one for the Royals with a grand slam over the left-centerfield wall.

In the end, the Grays got their third win in a row and second of the night.

STANDINGS

  • 7-1 = Falcon Contracting
  • 6-3 = Sibola Electric Royals
  • 4-4 = FFR Glass Grays
  • 3-7 = Falcon Camp Services
  • 2-7 = Freshii Hitmen

The SCMFL is hosting an inter-league tournament this weekend, Aug. 15 and 16.

Opening match goes for this afternoon, 3:30 p.m. between the Royals and the Grays.
