Even in the depth of winter, the Wheelin Warriors of the North are in cycling mode.
The group is gearing up for its third Ride to Conquer Cancer, scheduled Aug. 29 and 30, with an information session Wednesday in Prince George.
In two years, the team has raised almost $170,000 with a goal to help save more lives, improve more outcomes, prevent more cases, and simply to make treatment and care more effective.
The group, led by captain Karin Piche, has already raised almost $8,000.
The team has 37 members and is calling for more participants for the scenic Vancouver to Seattle ride.
Cyclists can choose the classic or the challenge, with an option of starting in Vancouver and ending in Seattle or doing the complete - and grueling - round trip that begins and ends in Vancouver. All routes are more than 200 kilometres long.
