A vendor wagon was wheeled away by thieves this past weekend from the Salmon Valley Gymkhana Club.

The western-style horse arena is about 8 kms down Salmon Valley Road and on the grounds was a concession wagon. Sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the wagon disappeared.

"It is very distinct," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.

He described it as being an older model, with flip open windows on the side, blue siding, tin roof, green hitch and a single axle.

"It was up on blocks and someone pulled it off the blocks," Douglass explained. "It doesn't have a lot of monetary value for a thief, but a lot of value for the rightful owner and not easy to replace."

Prince George Mounties stress to rural residents that there has been a recent upswing in break-and-enters and thefts in the outlying neighbourhoods around the city. Precautions to protect rural property is encouraged.
