Election BC has announced safety protocols for voters heading out to cast their ballots for the Provincial General Election this year.
Safety protocols were developed with the Office of the Provincial Health Office and WorkSafeBC to make sure everyone stays safe.
Protective measures at voting places will include:
- Physical distancing
- Capacity limits
- Election officials wearing personal protective equipment (such as masks and face-visors)
- Protective barriers
- Hand sanitizing stations
- Frequent cleaning of voting stations and frequently touched surfaces
- Election workers trained on safe workplace guidelines and pandemic protocols
Voters will be asked to sanitize their hands before and after voting, and are encouraged to wear a face mask or covering.
In-person voting will take place Oct. 15 to 21 for advanced voting and on Election Day on Oct. 24 both from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voting location and dates will be confirmed on Elections BC’s website when they are available.
Those who are feeling sick or are self-isolating should stay home and request a vote-by-mail package instead.
To vote by mail, voting packages can be requested from Elections BC’s website.
Instructions will be mailed to voters on how to complete it as well.
Voters are also asked to register and update their information online or by phone.
Voter registration’s phone line closes at 8 p.m. on Sept. 26, while the online registration closes at 11:59 p.m.
