A Pineview Volunteer Fire Department crew contained and extinguished a fire that broke out in the chimney of a 10900-block Grove Road home Wednesday morning.
Eight firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 9 a.m., where they found the home full of smoke and some flames coming out of the wall in the house's middle, where the chimney is, said deputy chief Lorne Koch.
The blaze was hosed down after the drywall in that section was pulled back. About four feet around the perimeter of the ceiling was also removed to see if the fire had extended into the attic, but no flames were found.
Firefighters, trucks and equipment from the Ferndale and Buckhorn departments were also called to the scene to provide backup in case the fire turned out to be larger than expected.
"It was a good save," Koch said. "There was very minimal damage."
Pineview firefighters also put out a chimney fire on Saturday morning at a home on Traditional Place.
