Old cars, new ideas, and an abundant supply of hard-to-find parts.
All will be showcased at this weekend's second annual Prince George Vintage Car Club swap meet at the Roll-A-Dome.
Starting Friday afternoon, old car enthusiasts trying to find that missing piece of chrome, that set of original brakes or those missing hubcaps will have a chance to bring their restoration projects one step closer to completion. They can pick a part, and also pick the brains of people with similar interests in bringing their old rides past back to life.
Vendors from various parts of B.C. and Alberta will be setting up booths inside the building to sell or trade their collected treasures and the parking lot be devoted to larger-scale products available in the antiques road show.
"The old car hobby is pretty strong in this area and people are always looking for project cars to work on, and also a place to buy parts and accessories and collectables related to the automotive industry," said club treasurer Bill Empey.
"Lots of people who work on old cars have extra parts and the idea is to bring them in and sell or trade them. There will be cars in the parking lot and trailers loaded with parts. It's a time to enjoy socializing with other people in the old car hobby."
After several smaller-scale swap meets were poorly attended, the club revived the concept last year and was encouraged by its success. The club got the word out through its website and by placing posters at show and shine events in the region this summer. Empey said many of the same vendors who were there last year are back for more this weekend.
Several finished restored vehicles will be on display.
The free event runs on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m., and continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Roll-A-Dome, 2588 Recreation Pl.
