Dashcam footage has surfaced of a terrifying near-miss where a car almost hits a man crossing a Vancouver street with a small child.

The footage begins with an explanation of what takes place in the video, explaining how a, “careless driver almost runs-over father and child in the middle of [the] crosswalk.” The  description adds that the incident took place at W. Broadway St. and Yew St. in Vancouver at 1:48 p.m. on Nov. 28.

Following the introduction, the footage shows dashcam perspective of the intersection of W. Broadway St. and Yew St.

To the right, a father with a small child slowly walk into the crosswalk. As they make their way across the street, a black car makes a fast turn through traffic and into the crosswalk right in front of them. In order to avoid being hit, the pair abruptly stop walking.

James Sztyler shared the video on YouTube on the day that the incident took place, and he calls it a “close call.”

Sztyler also tells Glacier Media that, “If you slow the video down you’ll notice the father moves his shopping bag out of the way to avoid the car hitting his bag.”

Last week, dashcam video surfaced of a near miss at a Metro Vancouver intersection that could have resulted in serious injuries. The footage begins by showing the driver’s perspective of River Road in Richmond. As the driver makes their way down the street, they slow to a stop at the intersection of Cambie Road.
