Quiet long weekend

The Victoria Day long weekend was a quiet one for local police and fire crews.

Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Ken Landry said, as of Monday afternoon, the first long weekend of spring went by without any major incidences.

"We've had no serious motor vehicle accidents. We've been pretty lucky," Landry said.

Police were involved in several routine investigations, he added, but no major crimes appear to have been committed over the weekend.

"[But] the weekend isn't over yet," he said. "There has been nothing of significance. [And] we're hoping it stays that way."

Elsewhere in the country the long weekend took a bloody toll on the roads.

A B.C. man was killed on Friday when his truck sped off a B.C. Ferry terminal and sunk.

FIve people were killed on Ontario's highways and six died on the road in Quebec. Three people were killed in three crashes in New Brunswick.

Boat stolen

Quesnel RCMP are hoping to locate a boat stolen from the 5,000-block of Hydraulic Road in Quesnel over the weekend.

A 1987, 16-foot Lund aluminum boat with a Johnson 28 horsepower motor was stolen, along with the EZ-Load trailer it was loaded on.

The boat was stolen sometime between Thursday and Friday evening.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of this boat is asked to call Quesnel RCMP at 250-992-9211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
