Prince George RCMP have received a report of a suspicious person offering an elementary school student a ride.
The suspect is described as a First Nations woman in a blue or grey van who allegedly asked a Grade 3 girl if she wanted a ride as she was walking along Johnson St. shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday. The girl declined and ran away and reported the incident to her principal at Harwin elementary school.
"The Prince George RCMP take these reports seriously and are actively investigating," Cpl. Craig Douglass said. "Hopefully these are just good intentioned persons concerned about children walking in poor weather."
If this is the case, investigators are asking the driver to contact the detachment at (250) 561-3300.
Douglass said a few similar reports have come into the detachment recently, although vehicle and driver descriptions vary.
"One report was found to have been fabricated," he said.
