Northern Health has reduced its age of eligibility for Prince George-area adults to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

Phase 2 vaccination times are now being booked for seniors aged 72 and older (born in 1949 or earlier) and for all indigenous adults aged 18 and older (born in 2003 or earlier).

Call 1-844-255-7555 for an appointment. Callers will be asked to provide their BC Services Card identification number or their personal health number.

Inoculations are being administered at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre, 808 Canada Games Way.

The Northern Health call centre, normally open seven days per week from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., is working on reduced hours during the Easter weekend. The phone lines will be staffed today until 5 p.m. and the service will reopen on Monday, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Phase 2 of the province’s immunization plan, which is targeting priority populations at higher risk if they become infected by the virus, ends on April 10. Phase 3, for the general population, is scheduled to begin later this month and vaccines will be made available to people who were not age-eligible in Phase 2. That will start with oldest people, grouped according to age in five-year increments to age 60.

As vaccine supplies increase, people aged 64 to 18 who are front-line essential and workers in specific higher-risk workplaces or industries might be included in Phase 3.

Phase 4 will target people aged 59 to 18.
