One of the world’s largest series of religious conventions is returning to Prince George this weekend, with Jehovah’s Witnesses set to host their annual three-day gathering at the C.N. Centre from Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 20.
The event, is part of a global series that draws millions of attendees each year. Organizers say more than 3,000 people are expected to travel to Prince George from across northern British Columbia, the Yukon, Northwest Territories and northern Alberta. The program is free and open to the public.
“We look forward to once again working with city staff and the tourism industry to bring this exciting program to Prince George,” said Stefan Freudentheil, a local spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “This year’s convention theme is intended to bring clarity to many people who are searching for hope. It will highlight what worship is all about and how this can help them cope with today’s challenges.”
The weekend convention will feature Bible-based talks, interviews, and multimedia presentations. Highlights include a baptism ceremony on Saturday and the screening of episodes two and three of The Good News According to Jesus, an 18-part video series based on the Gospels.
Daily sessions begin at 9:20 a.m., with programs running until late afternoon each day. A lunch break is scheduled each day from 12:05 to 1:25 p.m.
Admission is free and the event is open to everyone.
