The city's apartment vacancy rates declined over the year, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
Overall, they declined from 3.0 per cent as of October from 3.8 per cent a year before, while the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment rose to $771 per month from $754.
For the city's downtown, vacancy fell to 3.3 per cent from 5.8 per cent while average rent rose to $736 from $726. For the outlying area, vacancy rose marginally, to 2.8 per cent from 2.7 per cent, and average rent went up to $786 from $767.
CMHC issued the figures Tuesday.
