UPDATED: Severe thunderstorm warning ends, thunderstorm watch still in effect

Environment Canada's severe thunderstorm warning, issued Tuesday afternoon, has been lifted, with an earlier severe thunderstorm watch still in place.

A storm watch indicates the conditions exist for rain, thunder and lightning. A storm warning indicates that the weather pattern is forming and a storm is more likely.

Residents across the region can expect unsettled weather conditions over the coming days, with a mix of showers, thunderstorms and sunny breaks in the forecast.

Environment Canada says Tuesday will be mainly cloudy, with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the morning increasing to a 70 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms by the afternoon. There's a risk of a severe thunderstorm later in the day. Winds will shift west at 20 km/h in the afternoon, and the high will reach 20 C. The UV index is forecast at 6, considered high.

Tuesday night will see cloudy conditions continue with a 70 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms. A severe thunderstorm is also possible in the evening. Winds from the west at 20 km/h will become light overnight. The low is expected to be 10 C.

On Wednesday, a mix of sun and cloud is in store with a 40 per cent chance of showers and the risk of an afternoon thunderstorm. Winds will become southwest at 20 km/h early in the afternoon. The high will again reach 20 C, with a UV index of 6.

Cloudy skies will persist Wednesday night with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a low of 9 C.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, Thursday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 21 C, followed by a cloudy night and a low of 9 C.

Friday is expected to see similar conditions with a high of 18 C. There's a 40 per cent chance of showers Friday night, with a low of 10 C.

Saturday will be cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 22 C. The chance of showers continues into the night, with cloudy periods and a low of 10 C.

Sunday will see a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 23 C, with cloudy periods expected overnight and a low of 10 C.

The trend continues into Monday, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 24 C.
