Police and ambulance responded to a 911 call at approximately 7:50 a.m. today at an Eagle View Road home in a rural area east of Prince George after received a report of an injured child outside a residence in the community of Shelley, east of Prince George.
At the scene, police and paramedics located a child suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. The child was transported by the BC Ambulance Service to the University Hospital of Northern BC with serious injuries.
A young person known to the victim has been located and arrested by police.
This is believed to be a targeted offence and no risk to public safety.
No further details about either the victim or the suspect will be released due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The victim is expected to recover.
