Bikers from the Texas 4000 Ride for Cancer, or TK4, wheeled into Prince George Sunday afternoon.

Every year University of Texas students bike over 4,500 miles from Austin to Anchorage, Alaska to raise money and awareness about cancer. The trip takes 70 days and is the world's largest charity ride.

Participant Whitney Yang, 22, sees the TK4 as a way to "mesh personal goals with the opportunity of a lifetime."

A core group of six volunteers in Prince George arrange accommodations, meals, and activities for the riders. The cyclists spend their day of rest at Ness Lake before rolling out again.

Businesses donated goods like toothbrushes and food. The Canadian Cancer Society supplied T-shirts and Tim Hortons provided coffee at breakfast, said one volunteer, Dorrie.

The riders come back through the city on Wednesday, July 28. If people wish to donate bulk items, they can drop them off at MLA Shirley Bond's office.

The cyclists can be spotted riding into town on First Avenue by Summerside Sport and Cycle. An approximate time will be available closer to the date.
