United Way to host children's book drive this Friday

Santa will be on site for photos and to hear Christmas wishes
Book Drive

United Way of Northern B.C. will host a drive to collect children's books this Friday as a way to help make literacy accessible for every kid in the local community.

All the books collected will be donated to local agencies to be used for children’s programs and services or provided directly to families and children who need them and otherwise could not afford them.

Donations of new and lightly-used books can be dropped off at the United Way of Northern B.C. at 1675-15th Ave., in the strip mall across from Parkwood Place Shopping Centre, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

For every book donated, donors will receive a coupon for a warm drink from McDonald’s on Massey Drive.

There will also be an on-site Santa for photos and to hear Christmas wishes.

The drive is part of this year's United Way Tree of Lights campaign through which the organization aims to raise $50,000 to support social service programming.

For each donation of $25, donors will be entered into a draw to win a #LocalLove package provided by a local business.
