The city's unemployment rate stood at 5.2 per cent in October, according to Statistics Canada labour market survey numbers released Friday.
That's down 1.3 percentage points from the rate seen for the same month last year as the number of people holding down jobs rose by 2,100 to 49,500.
Those seeking work stood at 2,700, down by 600 from October 2016, and those of working age without jobs and not seeking employment stood at 20,300, down 1,200 people.
The number of people of working age in the city totalled 52,200, up by 1,500 from the year before.
In September, the unemployment rate was 5.7 per cent with 49,400 working, 3,000 seeking work and 20,100 not participating.
The numbers are based on a three-month rolling average and do not separate part-time from full-time work.
