High school students focused on an academic future are invited to UNBC Talks this afternoon, timed with a district-wide professional development day.

Today's event also offers free basketball games and food - lunch and dinner - to sweeten the deal.

Starting at noon, prospective students in grades 10 to 12 can learn about the Integrated Analytical Skills and Knowledge program.

"It's for first year students and it's interdisciplinary and really gets students prepared for university," said Pam Flagel in enrolment services.

The program is designed to help new students explore their options in arts, social and health sciences. They try courses in six departments and can declare a major the next year.

UNBC hopefuls will have round-table talks with program alumni until 4 p.m., followed by dinner, and women's and men's basketball games at 6 and 8 p.m.

To register, students can email [email protected] until 10 a.m. this morning and should meet at room 6205 in the Conference Centre.
