The UNBC women's basketball team has had a hot start to the season, currently sitting undefeated at 4-0 with one Timberwolf recognized for her play.

Vasiliki Louka, a fifth-year forward from Greece, recorded back-to-back doubles against Winnipeg last weekend (Nov. 2 and 3). That earned her the second star of the week in Canada West.

  • Nov. 2 - 22 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and one steal in 36 minutes
  • Nov. 3 - 26 points, 14 rebounds, three assists in 34 minutes played

She leads Canada West women's basketball in rebounds, and rebounds per game (14.5). Louka is a huge reason the University of Northern British Columbia is off to their best start since joining Canada West.

There are two other teams also tied with the Timberwolves. Manitoba and Trinity Western both have undefeated seasons to date and eight points.

UNBC currently has 365 points for, while surrendering 265 early in the season.

The Timberwolves will host Trinity Western University this weekend (Nov. 16 and 17) with the women tipping off at 5 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 16) and 6 p.m.on Saturday (Nov. 17). The men will start at 8 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 16) and 7 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 17).
