UHNBC Drummers' Week proclaimed by City of Prince George March 18 to 25

UHNBC Prince George Traditional Drummers’ Week has been declared from March 18 to 25 by the City of Prince George.

UHNBC Prince George Traditional Drummers’ Week has been declared from March 18 to 25 by the City of Prince George.

At the announcement made in front of City Hall, Councillor Tim Bennett made the proclamation official on Monday.

The sound of the drum represents the heartbeat of Mother Earth and lifts up the spirits of those who hear it, said the proclamation.

Love and connection is at the centre of the drum circle, bringing healing from ceremony and tradition of its origins.

The UHNBC Prince George Traditional Drummers have contributed to the community in the best way they know how, drumming for more than four years at the University Hospital of Northern BC to show support for frontline workers, the proclamation continued.

The traditional drumming circle has sustained a positive impact in Prince George during the COVID-19 pandemic through their drumming and singing traditional songs of healing, hope, and honour for Indigenous culture, concluded the proclamation.
