There are now 3,641 recorded COVID-19 cases in B.C. after the latest update from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Minister Adrian Dix this afternoon (July 31).
In a written statement, officials announced there have been 50 newly discovered cases (including five epi-linked) in the past 24 hours throughout the province. The last time B.C. saw more than 50 cases was on April 27.
Northern Health has two new cases and a new total of 88. An outbreak on Haida Gwaii was declared by Northern Health on July 24.
The authority has confirmed the two latest cases are on Haida Gwaii. There has been a total of 22 cases with 10 having fully recovered.

There has been one new death from the virus in the past day for a new total of 195 while a total of 3,168 have recovered. There are 278 active cases in B.C. with five hospitalized and two in intensive care.
There have been 1,088 cases recorded in Vancouver Coastal Health, 1,889 in Fraser Health, 144 in the Island Health Authority and 369 in the Interior Health region.
Henry announced one new health-care facility outbreak at Dania Home in the Fraser Health region. There are now two long-term care facilities and one acute-care facility with active outbreaks.

With the B.C. Day long weekend now here, Dr. Henry is stressing for people to be safe be careful.
“This weekend, let’s play safe and stay safe while COVID-19 remains in our communities," she said in a release. “We can make this B.C. Day holiday weekend one where we find the right balance: having those important social connections with our friends and family, while taking precautions to protect ourselves and those around us."
“Let’s socialize safely by keeping our groups small, using the layers of protection and giving everyone enough space to stay safe, whether at a backyard barbecue, on a friend’s boat or enjoying a nearby park."
