Tuesday (July 21) was one turtle's lucky day, as two motorists saved it from highway traffic in B.C.'s interior region.
The turtle was rescued at the intersection of Highway 6 and Pottery Road in Vernon just before 8 p.m.
Deanna Bussey and her family spotted it on the road, and then turned back to save it from being run over by a vehicle.
By the time they got back, a motorcyclist had also stopped to save the turtle too.
"We were just coming home from the track, and we were worried it was going to get hit since it was in the middle of the road," says Bussey.
"We saw the motorcycle pull a U-turn so it turned into a group effort."
The turtle was rescued by her husband Jim, and was moved safely off of the highway.
"Quite a few cars stopped and waited for us to move it, and our kids were so happy," she adds.
"We never got the name of the guy on the motorcycle, but we are thankful he stopped since it would've been harder for Jim to go out there on his own."
