The countdown is on until Prince George turns pink.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure goes Sunday, Sept. 30 and with two months to go, organizers are ramping up their call for participants.
Last year's event brought out 564 participants who raised $135,113.
"We'd be thrilled if we match or beat that this year," said Renee McCloskey, co-director of the Prince George run.
The nationwide five kilometre or one kilometre walk or run - which kicks off locally at the Civic Centre at 9:30 a.m. - is the largest single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event for breast cancer in Canada.
Since the Run for the Cure came to Prince George in 2001, residents have raised more than $1.24 million.
All net proceeds from the event stay in the region where they were raised to help fund, support and advocate for prevention, early detection, research, treatment and health care workforce improvements.
Registration is open for individuals or teams at www.cbcf.org.
