Tony Ferreira and Brad Grantham have pulled out of the race for council.
"Whenever I do something I like to put myself in it 100 per cent," said Ferreira, the owner of AVF Home Improvements. "I just over-stretched myself with coaching a hockey team and being involved in the community. And also the money issue right now. It was a last minute decision to go in and I knew I had until Oct. 21 to pull out. Upon further investigation of the cost of signage and without people's financial support I can't do it. It's not fair to me or to the other people running if I went in there not fully committed and it wouldn't be fair to the people who voted for me either. I am pretty disappointed that I could not go on with it but I had to make the responsible decision."
Ferreira guarantees he will be a candidate for council in the next election.
"My signs will be the first up for the next election," said Ferreira.
Practical Tactical and Martial Arts Supply owner Grantham , who also works as an armoured car guard and with the Prince George RCMP in support of the media liaison office, said because he works for the federal government he missed the deadline to get the go ahead to run in the municipal election.
"I would have to wait for clearance to participate in the race for council," said Grantham. "It would take about three weeks, which would preclude me from doing a lot of the debates and a lot of the necessary things."
Grantham said he would be interested in running for council in the future.
"I'm a little disappointed in not being able to get the stuff done in time, but next time I will definitely give it a go."
