A trial for a woman accused of killing a McLeod Lake man will be moved to Vancouver, a B.C. Supreme Court Justice has ruled.
The trial for Madison Reid, 44, facing a charge of second-degree murder in the July 3, 2011 death of Bruce Norman Archambauld, 56, was set to begin on Nov. 18 but was adjourned because a psychiatric assessment suggested she was unfit to stand trial.
In a ruling issued this week, Justice Arne Silverman said Reid has a history of mental illness and has been in and out of the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Port Coquitlam since her arrest.
While in the hospital, Reid takes her medication and becomes fit, "but while out, there is a history of her not taking her medication and she is rendered into a state of unfitness," Silverman said.
Silverman ordered that Reid be detained at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital for the trial's duration.
