Treasure Cove Casino saw a slight decrease in revenue over the most recent fiscal year.
According to figures in the B.C. Lottery Corporation annual report for 2012-13, released this week, $54.8 million was spent at Treasure Cove, down $898,000 or 1.6 per cent from the previous fiscal year.
Broken down, the slot machines and gaming tables generated $45.9 million, a $441,000 decline, and bingo was good for $8.9 million, down $457,000.
The outcome followed a B.C.-wide trend to some extent as $1.34 billion was spent on slots and tables across the province, down $9.4 million from the year before. That was offset somewhat by a $7.7-million gain in bingo, which accounted for $296.8 million in total.
After peaking at $77.3 million in 2007-08, revenue from gambling in Prince George plummeted to $50.6 million by 2009-10, due to the recession and the ill-fated Chances Good Time Prince George, a victim of a provincial ban on smoking indoors and a less-cozy atmosphere than its predecessor.
It was closed in June 2010, slightly more than a year after it was opened, and since converted into the Commonwealth Health Centre, and bingo was moved over to Treasure Cove.
Treasure Cove is home to 540 slot machines, nine gaming tables and 633 bingo seats.
