Evelyn and Jack McKinley were married on Oct. 11, 2002, after each was widowed for a few years.

They found each other at a coffee shop in 2001 where Jack was hanging out with a friend and Evelyn was also out with friend.

Since the foursome were acquainted, they decided to sit together and chat.

Evelyn and Jack saw each other at dances quite often after that and Jack finally asked Evelyn to dance.

They continued to meet at dances and see each other at the Elder Citizens Recreation Centre and got to know each other that way.

"And then what happened?" Jack asked Evelyn. Then he answered for her.

"You asked me to marry you!"

"Yeah, right," was her reply.

They both looked at each other and laughed.

The jovial couple kid around a lot with great affection

Jack is known in Prince George for his piano playing and volunteers his time often.

For more than 30 years, Evelyn has attended Range of Motion classes at the Four Seasons pool three times a week and credits that to her healthy body.

Jack and Evelyn bought the house they live in now right after they were married and have an RV they use when they go fishing in places like Kitimat and most recently in Granisle where the couple caught their limit and came home.

Who catches the most fish?

After a deep sigh Jack admitted, "she does." And Evelyn smiled brightly.

Travel has been a big part of their lives and they've gone to Cuba, Mexico twice, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan.

Secrets to a happy marriage?

"You have to be understanding and know to be careful," said Jack. "Be more giving."

"So you'll remember that the next time I ask to go dancing," joked Evelyn.
