Trafficking garners jail time

A 56-year-old Prince George man has been sentenced to 351 days in jail for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A 56-year-old Prince George man has been sentenced to 351 days in jail for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Steven Lenard Abela was issued the term Wednesday in Prince George provincial court about two weeks after he was arrested at a motel in the 1500 block of Victoria Street.

A quantity of cocaine, cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized, police said.

Abela is well known to police. He most recent previous sentencing was six months in jail for trafficking, issued in July 2010 for an incident about a year before.

Darlene Joseph, 44, was also arrested and is scheduled to elect counsel on Wednesday at the courthouse.
