Tornado warning issued for Prince George

Prince George was subject to a brief tornado warning on the evening of Tuesday, July 1.

Environment Canada issued the warning at 8:18 p.m. after tracking a severe thunderstorm. "Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible," the warning stated. "This thunderstorm, and possible tornado is currently a few kilometers northeast of Prince George and headed towards the northeast at 50 km/h. This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation."

While stormy conditions followed, no tornado was reported and the warning was lifted shortly after.
