The B.C. Vital Statistics Agency released its list of the most popular names for boys and girls born in 2013.
There were 42,925 babies born in B.C. in 2013 -22,491 boys and 21,434 girls -according to information released by the agency on Thursday.
Olivia remained the top name for girls for the second year in a row, and the fourth time in five years.
Liam was the top name for boys in 2013. In 2012 Ethan had bumped Liam to second place, after it was the top name in 2011.
The top 20 names for girls in 2013 were (number of babies named that in brackets): Olivia (284), Emma (250), Sophia (219), Emily (189), Ava (181), Chloe (152), Charlotte (151), Ella (151), Avery (125), Hannah (125), Isla (124), Isabella (121), Amelia (118), Lily (115), Abigail (112), Mia (109), Elizabeth (105), Aria (101), Sophie (101) and Brooklyn (100).
The top 20 names for boys in 2013 were (number of babies named that in brackets): Liam (265), Mason (248), Ethan (234), Lucas (219), Benjamin (215), Logan (203), William (198), Alexander (194), James (167), Jacob (161), Owen (154), Jack (151), Nathan (150), Carter (144), Daniel (137), Hunter (130), Jackson (129) and Jayden (129).
