The city's Top 40 Under 40 magazine is now on local coffee tables.
The second annual rankings of the city's young business stars was released Thursday by the Chamber of Commerce.
The people on the list were disclosed in November, but now the faces and stories have been put to the names. The magazine is a commemorative collection of their profiles.
"It is apparent by the bios of this year's finalists that the quality and quantity of young professionals in Prince George is both robust and impressive," said Christie Ray, CEO of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce.
Early in the nomination process there was concern expressed that Prince George didn't have the depth to support such a list two years in a row. By the time the judging was done, that suggestion had evaporated. Only two of those on the inaugural list in 2012 made it onto the second list as well, and many of the final cuts were painful for the panel of judges.
"For me, personally, I consider these people my peers. I'm part of that age bracket as well, so to learn about what they are doing in our community and knowing, by reading this magazine, that all these amazing young people are out there having such a powerful influence on our city is very exciting," said Ray. "Seeing the community really back this initiative up also says a lot about where Prince George is going."
Five thousand copies of the magazine are being distributed across the city, with some being sent to neighbouring communities as well.
To meet the Top 40 Under 40 class of 2013 and celebrate their inclusion in the glossy magazine, a reception is being held Feb. 27 at UNBC's Admin Atrium starting at 5 p.m.
Copies of the 'Top 40 under 40' publication may be obtained by contacting the Chamber by emailing [email protected], by phone (250) 562-2454, or by visiting 890 Vancouver St. A PDF version of the magazine is available on the Chamber's website: www.pgchamber.bc.ca.
