Tire roundup on Saturday

The rubber that's become too old to hit the road will be gladly accepted by the Fraser-Fort George Regional District this Saturday when a "tire roundup" will be held at the CN Centre parking lot, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All car and light truck tires with an inside diameter of less than 16.5 inches will be accepted free of charge.

Old tires are accepted year-round at the Foothills landfill at no cost, but FFGRD waste diversion program leader Rachael Ryder said the round up is a good time to drop them off because a truck from Tire Stewardship B.C. will be there to carry them directly to Delta for recycling.

"It'll just make it easier for people to give them right to the recyclers," Ryder said.
