British Columbians are preparing to celebrate their provincial pride for B.C. Day on Monday, Aug. 2.
To celebrate, the Vancouver based band the British Columbians will be pre-releasing two songs from their forthcoming second album on iTunes the same day.
CBC Radio described the band's work as "music that straddles the border between old time blues and stompy rock 'n roll. Real, earthy and rugged as a B.C. mountain top."
The group grabbed the music industry's attention in the spring of 2009 with the release of their debut, self-titled album.
A panel of industry heavyweights voted the group as Canada's Best Undiscovered Band, a panel that included representatives from Universal Records, Roadrunner Records and Last Gang Records.
Since then, the band has toured Canada and shared the stage with the likes of Broken Social Scene, K-OS and Our Lady Peace.
In celebration of Canada Day, the British Columbians are offering a special promotion. From now until the end of August, the band is offering free downloads of their first album through their website, www.thebritishcolumbians.com.
