Heather Park plementary has been a flurry of beginning-of-the-year activities. Little Shippy is a wonderful addition to our fenced-in play area for our youngest students. Thank you, PAC.
Author Eric Walters visited on Sept. 19 to share his books with our Grade 6 and 7 students.
We were all amazed by his many adventures and inspired by his message that even one person can make a difference in the world.
Our PAC met on the evening of Sept.19 - already in the throes of a variety of projects.
On a bright and sunny Friday, Sept. 21 afternoon, the annual Terry Fox Run was held. This school-wide activity included an assembly prior to the run/walk. $380.00 (and counting) was collected to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation.
In the upcoming week, Open House/Passport Night will be held on Sept. 27 in partnership with Mrs. Weisgarber, our teacher-librarian's ever popular two day Book Fair. Our school will celebrate the end of September and the first month of school with a Just Out of Bed theme day organized by Mrs. Attree's Grade 7 class on Sept.28.
Good things come in threes at cole College Heights elementary. Recently the school held the first elementary cross-country run of the season, the annual Snowflake Run. The title did not suit the weather as it was very warm and sunny. Students from Vanway, Pinewood, and Nusdeh Yoh also took part. Following the run, a family Pizza Party was held outside with pizza being served by staff, much to the delight of the students.
An Open House rounded out the evening as students eagerly showed family members their classrooms, giving parents an opportunity to meet their child's
teacher. A great time was had by all.
Students were very lucky to have two special
presentations recently.
The Power of One, an anti-bullying presentation captivated students and educated them about how, as individuals, they have the power to stop bullying. Also this week, author Eric Walters thrilled the Grade 6/7 classes with his sharing of his novels, Camp X and Terry Fox.

The students of Highglen Montessori Elementary school are excited to be in their classrooms again and participating in their school life.
Club sign-up sheets are in the hallway filled with names showing their interest in the various clubs held during the lunch hour on different days of the week.
Clubs are for a variety of interests from art, film, leadership, yearbook, newsletter, recycling and sports.
The first student led activity will be the assembly on Wednesday. Students are planning the assembly with a focus on Peace Day and Terry Fox.
Families are welcome to participate in the Terry Fox Run on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 27.
Volleyball has started with practices during lunch and a game schedule for both the boys and the girls.

The Country Harvest Hoedown Open House and Book Sale at Foothills elementary school will take place on Sept. 27.
Festivities will begin at 5:30 and go until 8:30.
Come out, meet the teachers and check out the books for sale. Dress in your finest country wear for the hoedown in the gym.
Hot dogs and chili will be available at our concession. A pie eating contest will start at 7:00. What a great way to kick off the new school year. Yeehaw!
