If you've ever wondered what happens to young cubs who've lost their mother, chances are they may end up at the Northern Lights Wildlife Society (NLWS).
The 20-year-old organization in Smithers rescues orphaned or injured wildlife and gives them a second chance at survival. Though all mammals and birds are accepted, the shelter has become a haven for moose, deer, and especially bears.
Angelika and Peter Langen, originally from Germany, own and operate the NLWS. As of January this year, 4 Grizzly Bears and 2 Kermode bears have found a temporary home there and have been or will be released to the wild.
