A Quesnel woman is facing charges following Sunday evening's incident in which a Prince George RCMP member fired at least one shot after she allegedly accelerated her car towards the officer.

Provincial Crown counsel has approved charges of assaulting a police officer, criminal negligence and dangerous driving against Holly Elizabeth McAuley, 19.

Witnesses have told The Citizen a blue Grand Am with its back window shattered sped out of the Lombardy Mobile Home Park, at the corner of Norwood and Strathcona, triggering an extensive RCMP manhunt in the VLA area.

RCMP had cordoned off Regents Crescent, where they found a car and sent out dogs to search the area for a suspect, according to bystanders. McAuley was arrested a short time later.

McAuley was released from custody Tuesday on an undertaking with a condition she remain at a residence in Quesnel. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 28.

The B.C. RCMP's major crimes section is overseeing the investigation and the RCMP member's actions will also be subject to a review, Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said Friday.

"As this investigation may be subject to court proceedings, no further comments will be made at this time," Douglass added.
