While area teachers aren't on the picket lines, they are still on strike - and will be seen rallying in front of MLA Shirley Bond's office today at noon.
Tina Cousins, president of the Prince George and District Teachers' Association, said in a media release that the association invites members of the public to join them in asking for a fair deal for teachers and better support networks for kids.
The association wants to see the government and the B.C. Teachers' Federation enter mediation, but it said the government is insisting the federation accept proposals that would limit bargaining before going into it.
"When teachers proposed a compromise that would have brought the two sides even closer to make mediation work, the government rejected that compromise," Cousins said. "That is not a fair or reasonable process. That is bargaining in bad faith."
