TC Energy has committed $180,000 over the next three years to support students in civil and environmental engineering programs and Indigenous students enrolled at the University of Northern British Columbia.

The money is being provided in the name of the company's Coastal GasLink project and will come in the form of scholarships.

Coastal GasLink Legacy Scholarships will provide 10 awards worth $3,000 each for UNBC civil and environmental engineering students. Applications for the scholarships can be submitted for the Fall 2021, Fall 2022 and Fall 2023 semesters.

Indigenous students enrolled in any undergraduate or graduate program at UNBC are also eligible to apply for awards worth $3,000 each beginning in the Fall 2021 semester. Ten awards will be available each year of the next three years.

“Coastal GasLink is committed to leaving a lasting legacy in local communities and investing in education is an essential part of that legacy,” Coastal GasLink public affairs manager Kiel Giddens said in a statement issued Wednesday.
