Lumber producers in the Prince George area are not having to shift gears downward now that it appears a softwood lumber tax drop to zero per cent will only last one month.
That's because they never shifted into a higher gear, instead maintaining plans that were in place before lumber prices spiked.
Canfor Corp., which has extensive operations in northern B.C., had taken a cautious approach to the price rise, with company officials noting that that underlying demand for lumber in North America had not risen.
