Suspected gun thieves arrested

Hart-area gas station was target; four arrested after stranding minivan in Strathcona Park

Aided by some poor driving, Prince George RCMP apprehended four people suspected of robbing firearms from a Hart-area gas station early-morning Tuesday.

Police were called to a report of an armed robbery at the 8000-block Hart Highway location shortly after 1 a.m. and were told the culprits left in a dark-coloured minivan after taking the guns from a locked cabinet. The culprits were wiedling firearms of their own in committing the heist, Cpl. Jennifer Cooper confirmed.

A short time later police spotted a vehicle that matched the description near Oak Street and Monkley Avenue. in the VLA The vehicle fled from police and was located again a short distance away, stuck in the middle of Strathcona Park.

With the help of a police service dog team team, the four were arrested and are being held in custody until they can attend court.

Prince George RCMP are asking witnesses or to anyone who may have dash camera footage showing the suspects in the area at the time to contact the detachment at 250-561- 3300. Quote file 2023-3997.

Names of the suspects were not released and charges remained pending as of Tuesday morning.
