A 33-year-old Dawson Creek man and a 32-year-old Spruce Grove, Alberta woman are in custody, suspected of passing counterfeit American cash in Prince George.

The two, whose names were not released, were apprehended early Tuesday morning after a convenience store clerk alerted police to say a woman had passed the money and fled in a distinctive vehicle, Prince George RCMP said.

Bearing Alberta licence plates, it was located a short time later at a 15th Avenue convenience store and the two were taken into custody. Prepaid credit cards purchased from the first convenience store and other counterfeiting evidence was located.

Investigators are sharing information with police in other communities to determine whether similar reports have been made elsewhere.
