A woman known to police was arrested Wednesday in connection what appears to have been a brazen crime of opportunity.

Prince George RCMP said Leslie Marcia Odiorne, 39 was apprehended on the afternoon of Wed., Sept. 7, a few blocks away from Fifth Avenue and Brunswick Street where a woman was reported to have stepped into a running pickup truck shortly after the owner had stepped out, and drove away.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the incident, police said.

Odiorne remained in custody as of Thursday morning on counts of robbery, assault with a weapon and breaching a release order.

According to court records, Odiorne also faces a count of driving while driver's licence is suspended under the Motor Vehicle Act from an alleged August 1 incident.

In December 2017, she was prohibited from driving for one year and fined $500 plus a $75 victim surcharge for driving while her licence was suspended, committed in December 2016.
