A Surrey man was the victim of Monday's motor vehicle incident near Hixon, 63 kilometres south of Prince George, according to the B.C. Coroners Service.
Balwinder Singh Gill, 53, died at the scene, the service said Thursday, after the empty tractor trailer unit he was driving south on Highway 97, collided with a northbound Super-B unit - a tractor and two trailer units - that had crossed the centreline.
Two pick-up trucks were then struck, one of them going down a 10 metre embankment, while two other tractor trailers went off the road to avoid the collision, RCMP said at the time. Three other drivers were taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
The Super B was fully loaded with lumber, and the road's condition at the time was described as slippery with light snow, the service said.
The name of the driver of the Super B was not released. The coroners service, WorkSafe BC and the RCMP continue to investigate the incident.
