The thermometer reached a record-setting high on Sunday. It peaked at 33.1 C, according to an Environment Canada measurement, eclipsing the old record for July 29 of 32.7 C, reached in 1998. Highs on Friday and Saturday were 33.1 and 31.

It peaked at 33.1 C, according to an Environment Canada measurement, eclipsing the old record for July 29 of 32.7 C, reached in 1998.

Highs on Friday and Saturday were 33.1 and 31.8 respectively, both just shy of the records for July 27 and 29 of 34.4 and 32.4, both set in 1998.

Looking ahead, cooler weather is in the forecast with significant chances of showers or thunderstorms on Tuesday and rain heading into the long weekend.
