The Prince George Spruce Kings have won back-to-back games for the first time this season.
They followed up a 4-2 win over the Langley Rivermen on Friday night with a 6-3 victory over the same team on Saturday evening, both games played at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
Nolan Welsh's two goals - including the game winner midway through the third period - and Jett Alexander's 34 saves led the way on Friday night while Cousins recorded a hat trick and an assist and Evan Orr scored once and recorded three assists on Saturday.
Cousin's goals included the game winner at 5:28 of the third, when he gloved the puck down off a hard pass from Ryan Helliwell and shovelled it through the wickets of Rivermen goalie Braedon Fleming. A few moments later, he got the hat trick, going top corner on Fleming and leaving the 800 plus at RMCA buzzing.
Cousins spoke after the game, and thought this was the best game his team has played all year, "That is such a huge game for us, I thought we really played a full 60. Our line with Cochrane and Seaman worked and battled all night, and just real happy with everybody's effort".
The wins vaulted the Spruce Kings past the Rivermen into third place in the B.C. Hockey League Lower Mainland division.
The Spruce Kings now hit the road for three divisional matchups, beginning with the Coquitlam Express Wednesday night, followed by the Surrey Eagles on Friday, and the Chilliwack Chiefs on Saturday.
