The Spirit Day radiothon that raises funds for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation collected $90,369 on Sept. 17, exceeding the goal of $60,000.
All the proceeds will go towards the purchase of respiratory equipment and other responses to the pandemic.
Spirit Day was an 11-hour radiothon the saw volunteers at the phones ready to take donations to support healthcare initiatives in northern B.C.
"We know healthcare touches us all, but each of us in different ways," Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, said. "Offering the opportunity for donors to support the area near and dear to them has been encouraging. We are so very thankful to our long time partners, the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, the Prestige Treasure Cove Hotel along with many of our steadfast donors, supporters, sponsors and volunteers who have made the day such a huge success. The real winner here is healthcare in the North."
