Prince George RCMP are urging drivers to slow down as summer progresses into fall after responding to two serious single-vehicle incidents early morning Sunday.

Just after midnight, police were called to the Highway 16 at Peden Hill where they found a vehicle flipped onto its roof and the driver pinned inside.

The 21-year-old Alberta resident and sole occupant of the vehicle emerged uninjured and told police he lost control.

Then just after 2:30 a.m., RCMP were called to the 100-block of Stirling Drive where a vehicle went over an embankment.

The driver and sole occupant was severely injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.

"Prince George RCMP continues to investigate these incidents and believes speed to be a factor in both occurrences," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.

"As the weather begins to change now that we are getting into fall, bringing with it less favourable driving conditions, we are reminding all drivers to make safe choices and slow down when behind the wheel."
